“I can succeed as an Internal Retirement Plan Counselor at Capital Group. ”

As an Internal Retirement Plan Counselor, you'll partner with financial advisors, plan sponsors, and retirement plan participants to help investors achieve retirement goals. Working closely with an External Retirement Plan Counselor, you'll build trusted relationships within your territory, uncover new retirement plan opportunities, and deliver American Funds and Capital Group retirement investment and recordkeeping solutions.

You’re motivated by setting goals and measuring your performance against them. You’ll collaborate with field partners and financial advisors to identify new opportunities and execute strategic territory coverage plans. By synthesizing complex information into clear, actionable insights, you'll engage advisors through personalized outreach and position American Funds and Capital Group's retirement investment and recordkeeping solutions to address their clients' evolving needs.

Day to day, you will

  • Partner with external wholesalers to develop and execute territory sales plans.
  • Conduct outbound calls to financial advisors to promote products, generate leads, and schedule meetings.
  • Provide insights on products, capital markets, portfolio construction, practice management, retirement landscape and follow-up to advisors.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, pipeline management and sales activities in Salesforce.
  • Analyze territory business intelligence, including advisor engagement, and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to deliver targeted campaigns and messaging.
  • Stay current on industry trends, messaging, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes.

  • You have a sales-focused mentality, are goal-oriented, and possess at least one year of sales experience in the financial services industry.
  • You are an expert communicator, with strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build relationships with colleagues and external clients.
  • You possess exceptional organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • You are a curious, continuous learner with an interest in developing an in-depth understanding of the defined contribution marketplace, investment concepts, and industry trends.
  • You have a bachelor’s degree.

Registration Requirements

  • You must hold the FINRA Security Industry Essentials (SIE) to apply. Series 6 or 7 are strongly preferred at time of application.
  • If not already held, you must obtain the Series 7, and 66 (or equivalent) upon hire.

New York Base Salary Range: $105,459-$168,734 ‎

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
