Lifeguard, HWC Lifestyles / Medical Fitness, Per Diem, Evening

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Aquatic & Recreation activities, the lifeguard is responsible to provide a safe, sanitary environment that encourages members to use the Lifestyles facility for fitness, relaxation and recreation and to improve individual swimming and water safety skills.

EDUCATION

High School graduate or the equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification required. Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS). Current Red Cross Standard First Aid or equivalent required. Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred - Effective group process skills. Effective oral and written communication skills to express ideas clearly. Effective listening skills. Ability to pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and the changing work environment related to changing client needs. Ability to work cooperatively with clients, family members, and multidisciplinary team members. Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use effective analytical and critical thinking skills to problem-solve.
