About The Role

Key Responsibilities

-

Swimming – The lifeguards must be extremely strong swimmers. They are expected to swim well even in undesirable conditions, such as strong currents and rip tides. They are also expected to swim strongly while pulling or carrying another person.

Communication Skills – it is crucial that lifeguards communicate issues or emergencies to peers and management clearly and effectively to ensure an individual is brought back to safety as soon as possible. Lead lifeguards are also expected to answer any questions or concerns that guests may have.

Organizational Skills – it is expected that lifeguards maintain records and reports regarding water quality and condition, and incidents and accidents.

Observation Skills – The lifeguards constantly scan their work area to detect safety concerns and practice preventative lifeguarding.

Watch the water and surrounding area to spot swimmers in distress and people acting unsafely.

Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.

-

Performs first aid according to the standards established by the American Red Cross and American Heart Association.

Explain and enforcing rules, regulations and policies to ensure safety of guests.

-

Ensure that all rules and regulations are adhered to.

-

Maintains order in swimming areas.

-

Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all areas.

-

Engage in basic lifeguard duties, such as vacuuming the pool and cleaning the skim line, removing debris from the pool as required.

Take chemical readings of the pool daily.

-

Maintain the towel bins and ensure clean towels are readily available for guests.

-

Checks guest restrooms to ensure cleanliness at all times.

-

Inspects daily all lifeguard equipment are accounted for and in good and useable condition.

-

Reports any concerns with equipment immediately.

Maintain records and reports.

Lifeguard Requirements

  • Completion of lifeguard training.

  • 3 years of related experience.
  • -
  • First Aid and CPR certification and oxygen administration.
  • -
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • -
  • Proficient in interaction with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds.
  • -
  • Available to work shifts, all days of the week.
  • -
  • Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous.
