About The Role
As Operator Grade 2 Land Management your responsibilities will include but not limited to
- Follow SHE standards when performing any work and read, sign off and adhere to all appropriate work instructions and standards.
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and continuously promote good housekeeping by adhering to all safety and health standards.
Cleaning the Work Area
- Maintain good housekeeping standards by keeping work areas clean, safe and organised.
- Clean equipment thoroughly using the appropriate tools and materials.
- Maintain land management infrastructure, including fences, roads, kraals, pipelines and related assets.
- Perform cattle management activities, including herding, weaning, dehorning, feeding, relocation and transportation.
- Operate equipment safely and effectively in accordance with assigned tasks, including tractors, graders, LDVs, trucks and TLBs.
- Use and maintain all tools and equipment responsibly to ensure safety, reliability and effective operation.
- Complete assigned administrative activities, including daily reporting and animal record keeping.
- Collaborate with team members to complete daily operational tasks and objectives.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, including veldfires, flooding, security incidents and water supply disruptions.
Assistance
- Assist supervisors and team members as needed.
- Support the team in the absence of the responsible person.
- Assist others within your designated role and expertise. • Follow KIO policies, procedures, and guidelines when assisting.
This role is in Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) department on a Band P6 (B-Upper) level reporting to the Supervisor Farm.
- Grade 12/ N3
- EC1 SA Drivers licence
- SA Drivers Licence: Code B (Light vehicle)
Technical Knowledge
- Entry-level position requiring practical experience through internships or relevant work, along with applicable licences or certifications.
- Knowledge and experience of land management processes.
- Fundamental knowledge of relevant protocols, procedures and policies.
- Knowledge of:
- fence construction, maintenance and repair, including electric fencing systems.
- vehicle and machinery operation, including routine inspections and basic maintenance.
- cattle farming practices and livestock management.
- game farming practices and wildlife management.
- farm water distribution systems and associated infrastructure maintenance, including dams, troughs, solar pumps and windmills.
