As the Payroll Expert (UK & ROI), you'll manage the end-to-end payroll process for approximately 1,000 employees across the UK and Republic of Ireland, ensuring payroll is delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with statutory requirements. Working closely with Finance, the People Team, auditors, and external advisors, you'll oversee payroll reconciliations, year-end activities, reporting, and continuous process improvements. As the UK & ROI payroll subject matter expert, you'll support payroll projects, manage legislative and system updates, deputise for the Payroll Manager when required, and play a key role in driving operational excellence across the payroll function.

This is a full-time, office-based role located in Prague, Czechia, with attendance required in the office five days per week.

What will you be doing

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of the monthly payroll for UK & ROI using the Resource Link system.
  • Manage payroll inputs including leavers (holiday, redundancy, severance), sickness, ad hoc payments, and allowances.
  • Reconcile payroll monthly with Finance, ensuring alignment with reports and statutory submissions.
  • Lead annual payroll processes including year-end reporting, P60s, Benefit Statements, Class 1A NIC reconciliation, and statistical reporting.
  • Manage the IR35 process with the People Team and external advisors (e.g., KPMG).
  • Support and represent Payroll in internal and external audits, producing and validating audit reports.
  • Oversee payroll system upgrades, reviewing release notes and implementing required changes.
  • Handle employee payroll queries, ensuring timely resolution and escalating where necessary.
  • Collaborate with the People Team on complex payroll cases and benefits administration.
  • Act as deputy to the Payroll Manager, covering responsibilities during absence.
  • Drive payroll process improvements and contribute to cross-functional projects to enhance accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, agreements, and company policies, adapting processes as needed.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including Finance, People Team, auditors, and external bodies.
  • Act as the main point of contact for UK & ROI payroll matters, ensuring clarity and consistency.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the People Business Services Manager and/or Payroll Manager.

What you'll bring

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in payroll. UK & ROI payroll expertise is desirable. Candidates with strong end-to-end European payroll experience will also be considered.
  • Fluent English in speaking, reading, and writing (minimum C1).
  • Strong knowledge of gross-to-net payroll calculations.
  • Experience working with Finance and HR/People Teams in a data-driven environment.
  • Detail- and goal-oriented, with a structured yet flexible approach.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • High IT affinity; knowledge of SAP-HR.
  • International payroll experience (especially ROI).
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems (Resource Link preferred).
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills; experience with databases and reporting tools.
  • Degree in Finance, HR, or a related field
