About The Role
Summary
Supervises the monitor techs in the Centralized Telemetry Room as well as participates in the observation of cardiac monitors as needed. MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS :
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Performs supervisory duties for the shift.
- Assists staff to resolve clinical issues.
- Assumes responsibility for monitoring cardiac rhythms.
- Performs telemetry monitoring duties.
- Alerts nurse to respond to alarms resulting from rhythm changes
- Alerts nursing assistant or other competent staff member to respond to equipment or reception alarms (such as “leads off” or “low battery.”)
- Prints and documents strip assessment every four hours, on admission, during a code, upon request and as rhythms/rates change.
- Manages multiple priorities.
- Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current Paramedic certification by the State of North Carolina required
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as sponsored by American Heart Association required.
Work Experience
Minimum of one year experience as a Paramedic.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
Physical Requirements
- Works at Computer/Monitor for long periods.
- Remains calm under emergency situations.
- Sits for prolonged periods; must be able to communicate verbally.
- Must possess auditory and visual acuity to accurately perform job functions.
- Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
