Scaffolding Estimator (6 Month FTC)
octoenergy · Remote
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced scaffolding estimator to join our growing team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will be the crucial link between our property survey team and our trusted network of scaffolding subcontractors across the UK.
You will analyse remote property data, photographs, and solar site assessments to produce accurate, compliant scaffolding cost estimates before issuing work to our subcontractor partners. This is an ideal position for a detail-oriented UK scaffolding professional looking to transition into a flexible, home-based role within the fast-growing renewable energy sector.
This role can be based from home, but will require occasional travel to our offices located across England (ie, Brighton, Coventry, Leicester).
This is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract, with the potential to go permanent.
What you'll do
- Data & Site Analysis: Review property measurement data, photos, video footage, and solar installation specifications to determine precise access requirements for domestic and commercial properties.
- Cost Estimation: Produce accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates and bills of quantities for standard and bespoke access scaffolding, adhering strictly to TG20 guidelines.
- Subcontractor Management: Communicate project scopes to subcontractor partners, negotiate rates, issue quote requests, and ensure estimates align with agreed commercial terms.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all proposed scaffolding solutions meet current UK Health & Safety regulations, NASC guidance, and relevant industry standards.
- Workflow Coordination: Maintain clear digital records within our project management system to ensure seamless handovers from estimation to subcontractor.
What you'll need
- Scaffolding Estimating Experience: Proven track record pricing scaffolding projects (experience in domestic, solar, or roofing access is highly desirable).
- UK Qualifications: Valid UK scaffolding credentials or recognised trade qualifications (e.g., CISRS, NVQ Level 3/4 in Scaffolding/Estimating, or certified TG20 training).
- Industry Compliance: Deep understanding of TG20 e-Guide, SG4 guidance, and modern scaffolding techniques.
- Contractor Relations: Demonstrated experience dealing directly with contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable working remotely using digital survey software, photo interpretation tools, spreadsheets, and online project management platforms.
- Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, strong commercial negotiation skills, and the self-motivation required to thrive in an independent, home-based environment.
- Full UK driving license.
