About The Role
- To lead, coordinate, and manage substation refurbishment and replacement works within a hydro power plant environment for a national utility board, ensuring project delivery is achieved safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
- Develop and implement detailed project plans, schedules, and work programs for substation refurbishment and replacement activities.
- Define project scope, milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project progress and ensure alignment with approved timelines and budgets.
- Focal point at site for project controls roll-out and implementation.
- Site Team coordination.
- Site Lessons Learnt collection, validation and sharing.
- Responsible for streamlining weekly, monthly site reporting to senior management.
- Track daily, weekly, and monthly project progress against the project schedule.
- Identify risks, delays, and bottlenecks, and implement mitigation actions.
- Prepare and submit weekly site progress reports.
- Monthly project performance reports and Management dashboards and updates.
- Oversee site execution of substation refurbishment and replacement works.
- Ensure compliance with client's standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure work quality and safety compliance.
- Ensure all activities comply with client's safety policies and industry standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture on-site and enforce HSE requirements.
- Monitor quality of installation, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including: Site reports / Progress records / Drawings and technical submissions.
- Ensure timely submission of reports and documentation to client and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred) from a recognized university.
- Minimum ten (10) years' experience in electrical HV substation projects, including engineering, construction, testing and commissioning of HV/EHV substations.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience at project management for substation projects as Project Manager, Construction Manager, or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience in 132kV and above Grid projects.
- Familiar with national utility board's technical requirements, project procedures, safety regulations and authority approvals.
- Registered with BEM) and/or PMP certification is an added advantage. Proven capability in managing project cost, schedule, quality, safety and stakeholder coordination
