Mission Partner Environment Growth Operations

Through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program, GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands‑on training and professional experience as a Mission Partner Environment Growth Operations Fellow , supporting growth operations, partner engagement activities, business process exposure, and opportunity development within GDIT’s Mission Partner Environment (MPE) portfolio. This Fellowship provides exposure to the Mission Partner Environment (MPE), which supports Defense mission partners through interoperable systems, coalition collaboration, and technology‑enabled information sharing.

This Fellowship provides structured learning opportunities across business operations, business development processes, early opportunity lifecycle activities, customer engagement preparation, financial and market analysis fundamentals, and exploration of emerging technologies relevant to Mission Partner Environments. Fellows will train alongside senior growth leaders, technical experts, business development professionals, and mission partner engagement teams to build foundational understanding of how growth operations support mission partner environments within the Defense sector.

The Mission Partner Environment Growth Operations Fellow will observe how mission partner requirements evolve, how early opportunities are identified and assessed, and how growth planning aligns to customer needs — while contributing to research, documentation, engagement preparation, pipeline support, and coordination across technical and business teams.

HOW A MISSION PARTNER ENVIRONMENT GROWTH OPERATIONS FELLOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Assist senior staff in organizing and coordinating day‑to‑day MPE growth operations, gaining exposure to how technical, business, and partner engagement activities are executed.
• Support documentation and development of MPE growth strategies by researching customer mission areas, tracking operational environments, and identifying information relevant to market expansion and account development.
• Help maintain awareness of mission partner organizations by gathering operational insights and documenting emerging requirements.
• Contribute to early pipeline development activities by conducting opportunity research, documenting qualification information, summarizing customer needs, and assisting with early strategy preparation under supervision.
• Coordinate with technical teams and mission partners to help collect information on solution approaches; summarize discussions and engagements to support ongoing planning and decision frameworks.
• Assist with partner engagement research involving OEMs, industry teammates, and internal business units, helping maintain situational awareness of partner capabilities and relevant industry developments.
• Support preparation of strategic review materials, including pursuit reviews, gate review inputs, and customer engagement briefs, by summarizing research findings and observations for senior leaders.
• Maintain organized documentation supporting opportunity tracking, customer insights, partner interactions, and internal coordination activities.
• Observe how go‑to‑market strategies are shaped, including how customer priorities, competitor dynamics, and mission partner impacts inform growth strategies within MPE environments.
• Provide administrative, analytical, and coordination support across growth, technical, and operational teams as assigned by senior staff.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Education

• Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of military experience, professional military education, technical training, or relevant certifications.

Experience

• 10+ years of military experience in operations, planning, technology, intelligence, acquisition, or mission support.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams or supporting mission execution at Battalion level or higher.
• Familiarity with Army or DoD operational environments and mission partner collaboration.
• Understanding of organizational planning, operational frameworks, or mission analysis.
• Ability to support structured research, documentation, and coordination activities.

Technical & Professional Skills

• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across functional teams.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize information from diverse sources.
• Interest in emerging technologies relevant to MPE environments.
• Ability to support development of planning materials and strategic documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in dynamic settings.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience in Army mission partner organizations, acquisition, capability development, operations, cyber, signal, intelligence, or technology integration.
• Familiarity with DoD business development lifecycle stages or government program management.
• Experience supporting planning documents, meeting preparation, or operational briefs.

Role Requirements

• Active Secret clearance required.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• On‑site attendance at GDIT site in Falls Church, VA
• Fellowship duration aligned with DoW SkillBridge requirements.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

DoW SkillBridge Eligibility

• Has served at least 180 days on active duty
• Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
• Will receive an honorable discharge
• Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
• Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoW SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.
