About The Role

Role Purpose

To run and fully understand the production of components through the chemical process plant and water treatment plant and/or operate the NDT penetrant line to ensure each part conforms to customer requirements in addition to quality, cost & delivery targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture aerospace components using chemical processing techniques in accordance with customer specifications and Quality procedures.
  • Examine and test the properties of materials and components using methods such as Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), visual, tensile, hardness, and conductivity testing.
  • Accurately interpret and complete production route cards (Technical Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures and Data Sheets).
  • Prepare, control and run test piece programs for Etch rate, Hydrogen, Alpha Case and IGA determinations
  • Maintain and monitor the chemical storage area, ordering and maintaining stock
  • Monitor sample, test, analyse and adjust mix in chemical tanks as required
  • Manage waste and control the effluent process
  • Conduct planned equipment and plant cleaning
  • Complete proactive preventative maintenance
  • Preparation for and involvement in internal and Nadcap audits
  • Ensure documentation and systems are updated in line with procedures  
  • Trouble shoot, complete failure investigation and root cause analysis to solve issues and continually improve processes
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards of the work area implementing Safety + 5 S methods (Sort, Set, Standardise, Shine, Sustain)
  • Work in line with the Company Values (Safety, Accountability, Respect & Trust, Integrity, Excellence, Customer Focus) and demonstrate the associated behaviours in your daily work
  • Consistently follow Health, Safety & Environmental procedures, including wearing the required personal protective equipment provided

  • Complete training as required and apply the learning in performing operations to
  • Perform all reasonable requests made by management.

Key Requirements

Essential

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Comfortable working with hazardous substances whilst maintaining a high level of concentration
  • Able to read and interpret technical documentation, visual aids and data sheets
  • Able to work accurately and in a timely manner using own initiative with limited supervision
  • Confident making simple mathematical calculations
  • Good computer literacy with a competent knowledge of Microsoft 365, Word, Excel etc.
  • Always demonstrates Health & Safety awareness
  • Good level of physical fitness and application of manual handling techniques due to lifting requirements in the role
  • Willing to engage in Continuous Improvement projects
  • Flexible in working hours to undertake variable shift patterns and support business needs by working overtime when required.  
  • Punctual

Desirable

  • BINDT Level 2 qualified
  • Experience with chemical processing would be advantageous however full training will be given
  • Familiar with wet chemical analysis techniques such as titrations
