HR Operations Specialist - part-time/28 hrs per week
The HR Operations Specialist is responsible for employee clearance check process and approving independent contractor requests. They will also assist in employment verifications for campus, student contracts, ACA and ERISA Reports, and other tasks as assigned by the HR Operations Supervisor.
What you'll be doing in this position
Staff Clearance Process
- Independently manage the clearance checks process for all staff and student positions that require additional clearances such as background checks, ecclesiastical checks, and physical exams.
- Manage the relationship with TruScreen and process all background checks for specified jobs.
- Work with recruiters and hiring managers by answering questions related to the clearance check process, including post clearances process.
- Reach out to campus departments for additional information to complete clearance checks.
- Ensure clearances are completed in a timely manner.
- Protect sensitive information and ensure confidentiality of clearance process, especially for those who do not pass.
- Address clearance check issues with supervisor and/or the Employee Relations Managers as needed.
- Notify Hiring Manager, Primary Recruiter, HR Business Partner and Manager of HR Operations Center when applicant does not clear.
Approve Independent Contractor Requests
- Answer any questions that departments have about independent contractor eligibility.
- Check for independent contractor eligibility and payment for new and ongoing requests.
- Communicate with areas of campus about requirements for independent contractor work.
- Work closely with the Compensation team for those that cannot be independent contractors.
- Ensure that requests for independent contractor requests are addressed in a timely manner
Reporting
- Ensure that ACA and ERISA Reports are run biweekly and sent to departments.
- Track all candidates that have completed clearances and provide monthly numbers.
Employment Verification
- Backup for any employment verification that is needed.
- Ensure the costing allocations are correct and approved.
- What qualifies you for this role
- Minimum education/experience
Required
- 1 or more years’ experience in a human resources or customer service environment.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications
Required
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Suite, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally.
- Ability to manage self well and handle pressure.
- Ability to keep confidentiality.
Preferred
- Knowledge of processes for implementing HR programs.
- Awareness of laws and government regulations impacting HR programs.
- Workday experience

Pay Grade: 49
Typical Starting Pay: $22.50-$29.25
The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
