Job Description
Position Purpose
- As a Truck Driver Assistant, you will provide courteous pick-up and delivery service to donors, guests and Thrift Stores by exercising safe and careful driving and material handling procedures. When performed effectively, this position will reduce losses and maximize sales and profitability
Key Accountabilities
- Constantly attentive to safe performance of your job and as a Truck Driver Assistant frequently exposed to a variety of environmental factors such as frequent exposure to heat, cold, fumes
- This position requires substantial exertion in the collection, delivery and service to stakeholders.
- Results driven with a focus on service.
- Action oriented and communicate effectively while maintaining your composure in challenging situations.

Education and Experience Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent
- The successful candidate will hold a valid Driver’s license and may be required to provide a driver’s abstract satisfactory to the employer.
- Ability to follow rules and work safely
Working Conditions
- This is a permanent full-time position, 35 hours/week
- Flexible work hours to achieve predetermined deadlines and are attentive to the safe keeping of The Salvation Army property including donations.
- To join a hands-on work environment where you will be required to physically move through our operation while adhering to daily goals
- Substantial physical exertion is required for lifting and movement of heavy boxes and furniture-up to 75 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally
- Constant high level of lifting, standing, walking, bending and twisting
- Work is varied with long periods of concentrated attention to prevent damage to vehicles and/or donations
- Moderate amount of interpersonal conflict with difficult donors/guests
- We are operational 7 days a week and schedule our employees based on operational needs; days, evenings, weekends and holidays (Please Note: Our stores are open for shopping Monday to Saturday and Sundays we are open to receive donations).
- As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees, CSA approved footwear is required for all Retail and DRC positions within NRO.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Must adhere to CVOR and organizational policies on vehicle safety operation.

Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $20.18 to $21.96 with a maximum of $23.74. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
