The Clinical Research Nurse plays a pivotal role in conducting clinical trials. In coordination with the principal investigator, clinical trials team, and clinic staff the Clinical Research Nurse ensures proper implementation of all clinical trial activities. Works closely with a team of medical professionals and researchers to ensure the clinical trials are conducted efficiently, ethically, and within regulatory compliance. Responsible for managing all aspects of the clinical trials, such as participant recruitment, data collection and analysis, nursing assessments, and ensuring the integrity and quality of the research.
Duties and Responsibilities not limited to
- Serves clinical research nurse on a variety of research studies with moderate regulatory, clinical, and operational complexity; supports the PI and research team members.
- Coordinates and/or performs study activities which may include nursing assessments; identification of adverse events; investigational product/test article (drug or device) accountability and administration; collection, processing, and shipment of research specimens; and other research activities to the extent permitted by law and policy.
- Identifies, recruits, screens, assesses eligibility, and enrolls subjects per protocol; with appropriate training and delegation, performs protocol-required research activities.
- Maintains relationships with BAMF Health and external health care providers for the purposes of participant recruitment and coordination of care relative to research studies
- Acts as a primary point of contact, as well as clinical and informational resource for patients/families.
- Maintain accurate and complete clinical trial documentation and records.
- Ensure participant safety and confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
- Train and oversee research staff and volunteers, as necessary.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher required
- Licensed RN in the State of Michigan required
- 2 years of work in a healthcare setting as a RN required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or ARC required
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a health or science related field preferred
- 1 year of relevant experience in clinical research preferred
- Experience in oncology, nuclear medicine, and/or radiology nursing preferred
- OCN preferred
- SOCRA or ACRP certification preferred
