About The Role

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Guide the technical architecture of existing software solutions and act as an architectural authority for the development of new solutions
Advise on and make decisions regarding the overall technical direction of a product or suite of products
Develop the strategy for application development and define technical infrastructure to support that strategy
Research, recommend and provide estimates for integration with third party components or complex systems
During critical production issues, participate in the efforts to quickly assess, make recommendations and implement solutions
Provide technical expertise and guidance to other technical staff as well as other groups within the organization
Lead the efforts to define best-in-class development processes and engineering practices
Provide guidance on new technology and framework decisions, including buy versus build
Through design and code reviews, ensure new development is complaint with the defined solution architecture, that incorporates organization’s architecture strategy
Contribute to and drive technological and architectural decisions
Assist peer organizations with activities such as performance, scalability and reliability testing
Research new or emerging technologies to ensure application standards and processes are continuously improved and aligned with industry standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

10+ years of hands on experience with architecting and building mission critical, high performance web based applications, with minimum 3 years in an Architect role
Strong OO design and coding skills
Well versed in multi-tier web application architecture
Exceptional troubleshooting and debugging skills
Experienced with best practices and patterns for building large scale distributed applications
Experienced with middleware technologies for messaging, caching, services etc
Good understanding of industry trends and technologies in high scalability, PaaS and distributed application development
Solid understanding of relational database concepts and experience using Oracle or SQLServer
Experience with JBoss or Tomcat
Experience working in Agile environment
Proficient in application development using Java/J2EE technology (Servlets, JSP, JMS), standard frameworks (Hibernate, Spring), SOA, web services
Experience with security protocols and technologies for integration (SSL, web services security)
Experience in developing mobile applications (native and web) is a big plus
