What’s The Role

  • Processing incoming and outgoing rail freight accurately and efficiently
  • Preparing and managing train manifests, consignment documentation and dispatch records
  • Maintaining and updating freight tracking information and shipment records
  • Coordinating the movement of rail freight to support safe and efficient operations
  • Liaising with train crews, terminal staff, warehouse teams and operational controllers
  • Responding to customer enquiries and providing updates on freight movements
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies in freight documentation and consignment details
  • Supporting daily administrative tasks and maintaining accurate operational records
  • Ensuring compliance with rail safety requirements, transport regulations and company procedures
  • Assisting with the coordination of loading, unloading and scheduling activities to meet operational deadlines

What You’ll Bring

  • Excellent attention to detail with strong data entry and documentation skills
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operational teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Confidence using computer systems and learning new technologies
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to take ownership and solve problems
  • Previous experience in rail, freight, transport, logistics or administration (highly regarded)
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Previous experience in rail, transport, freight, logistics or administration (preferred)
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends or public holidays if required
  • Experience using rail or freight management systems
  • Knowledge of rail freight operations and terminal procedures
  • Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements and rail safety principles
  • Familiarity with transport scheduling, dispatch and freight documentation processes
