Job Description

General Ledger Accountant challenge in a few words

The GL Accountant is a person who is very disciplined in preparing journal entries, reconcile financial statements and accounts, and ensuring data accuracy in GL accounts. Performing month-end account closing activities and reconciliations, maintaining general ledger accounts are key duties.

Reporting: As GL Accountant you will report to the Accounting Manager Europe and be responsible for the GL accounting of the Polish, Belgium and German entities.

Responsibilities

  • responsibility for carrying out effectively the accounting activity of the company in accordance with applicable accounting and tax rules
  • preparation tax calculations (VAT, CIT) and timely reporting to the Tax Authority,
  • monthly preparation of the profit and loss account, balance sheet, month closing and summary of costs
  • preparation and review of payroll-related accounting postings
  • preparation statutory financial statements
  • preparation of statistical reporting ( e.g. GUS, NBP reporting and equivalents)
  • ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • preparation of all regular internal and external financial reports
  • maintain reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and related analysis
  • proposing and participation in continuous improvements
  • facilitation external audit for Group and local purposes for respective companies
  • maintenance the updated and accurate process documentation

Qualifications

  • Master degree in Finance / Accounting/ Economy
  • Good knowledge of accounting issues (POC revenue recognition), national legal and tax regulations
  • Hands‑on experience with IFRS
  • Experience in Financial Statement preparation
  • Fluent in English, written & spoken
  • Proactive approach, positive attitude
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Flexibility and perseverance
  • Strong ownership of responsibilities
  • Proven experience in accounting in Poland or Germany or Belgium and the willingness to deepen knowledge of the accounting and tax regulations applicable in other countries
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced knowledge in Excel

Optional

  • Knowledge of German will be an asset
  • Experience using an ERP, D365 is an asset
  • Accountancy & Payroll experience in an international company will be an asset
