Position: Associate

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate structured finance opportunities, including the assessment of facility structures, collateral quality, and key financing terms, such as structural protections, asset eligibility criteria, advance rates, concentration limits, and portfolio diversification requirements.
  • Conduct detailed due diligence and quantitative analysis for new transactions, including cash flow modeling, portfolio composition and diversification analysis, and stress-testing of collateral performance and facility metrics
  • Assess the credit quality and underlying value of portfolio assets (primarily corporate loans, but also infrastructure and asset-based loans) to support advance rate and valuation determinations by reviewing key credit metrics, financial performance, and collateral characteristics detailed in borrowing base files, investment memos, credit agreements, valuation reports, and other relevant underwriting materials
  • Prepare detailed credit memos and documentation summarizing transaction details and risk assessment analyses conducted during underwriting
  • Manage internal approval processes required for compliance and execution, including committee approvals, KYC, legal due diligence, and closing checklists
  • Facilitate transaction documentation in coordination with internal and external counsel
  • Support origination efforts by working with a diverse group of relationship and coverage teams to meet client needs and objectives
  • Contribute to the ongoing monitoring and risk management of the SAF book including collateral and liquidity management as well as the regular review of borrowing base files, underlying asset performance, and cross transaction performance
  • Work with the Portfolio Management Group to support transactions from origination and diligence through to closing and ongoing monitoring by applying in-depth knowledge of the private credit market, credit analysis, and facility structures
  • Track the latest developments and market trends in the corporate credit space (both public and private) and provide periodic updates
  • Facilitate the education of other Global Structured Solutions staff on fundamentals of corporate credit analysis and valuation, including training of new hires and junior staff
  • Leverage the use of AI, as permitted by the policies of MUFG, to increase efficiency of internal processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering, preferred
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of related work experience of working on complex financing solutions with a focus on private credit
  • Expertise in evaluating direct lending opportunities, construction of financial models and writing investment memos
  • Experience and track record in financing fixed income products.
  • Expertise in fixed income instruments, particularly structured credit, leverage loans and middle market loans
  • Experience managing risk

The typical base pay range for this role is between $150-170K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
