POSITION SUMMARY

Arapahoe Basin Lift Operators enjoy working with guests and aim to provide exceptional customer service every day.

As the Lift Operations Supervisor, you are responsible for training Leads and Lift Operators to ensure departmental policies are being upheld. This position ensures that Lift Operators throughout the department are performing their job duties safely and efficiently on a daily basis .

WAGE

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Arapahoe Basin’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors , including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Hourly pay range: $22.75 - $30.75/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Act as Manager or Asst. Manager in their absence
  • Assist Lift Operations management with scheduling, payroll, coaching, disciplinary actions, and other essential administrative functions
  • Facilitate on-mountain training of Lift Operators; maintain the Lift Terminal Specific Training documents
  • Be responsible for Lead training and documentation
  • Work closely with the Risk Management Team in regards to the Safety Plan and Fit for Snow Program
  • Aid with Morning Meetings; address the following topics: paychecks, TCA sheets, safety topics, Guest Service topics, etc.
  • Assist with 30-day and 60-day reviews of Lift Operators
  • Be in charge of daily grooming e-mails; delegate related duties before, during, and after lift operating hours
  • Coordinate staffing levels with regards to business volumes
  • Help with fraudulent lift passes, lift incidents, and guest complaints
  • Assume the duties of the Lift Operations Lead and Operator when necessary
  • Train and encourage employees to actively participate in sustainability initiatives and support them in maintaining sustainable practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 year/season working as an A-Basin Lift Ops Lead or similar role.
  • Complete all departmental safety trainings and snowblower training.
  • Complete all drive terminal training checklists.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills .
  • Swing and bump chairs on all A-Basin lifts requiring this technique.
  • Safely operate a Snowmobile.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and guest service skills
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English
  • Must provide own ski/snowboard equipment, under layers, gloves—the company does have discounts on some brands of gear
  • Must be available weekends, holidays, and some evenings
  • Must be able to stay focused on the lift and our guests without unnecessary distractions such as the use of cell phones
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check - preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent – Required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift
  • Ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level or higher
  • Ability to use a full range of body motion: bend, twist, kneel, pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders
  • Ability to visually and audibly inspect for irregularities in machinery

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position will work outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. Noise levels of machinery can be high and exposure to heights is frequent. You will work with guests frequently on a daily basis. Riding a chairlift is required for this role.
