About The Role
The Senior Education Counsellor & Admissions Team Lead, leads SHV's admissions counselling function and guides students and parents from first enquiry through enrolment and progression. The role provides clear, ethical advice based on each student's academic profile, English level, budget and study goals.
The postholder is accountable for counselling quality, team performance, application accuracy, CRM discipline and enrolment outcomes, while working closely with academic partners and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Student and Parent Counselling
- Conduct structured consultations with prospective students and families.
- Recommend suitable Foundation, 1+3, 2+2 or English-preparation routes based on readiness and affordability.
- Explain entry requirements, progression conditions, costs, timelines, recognition and destination options clearly.
Readiness Assessment and Applications
- Oversee English and academic-readiness screening and identify students requiring bridging support.
- Manage applications from document collection and eligibility checks through offers, deposits, enrolment and progression.
- Ensure applications are accurate, compliant and submitted on time; guide families on study-abroad and visa documentation expectations.
Team Leadership and Service Standards
- Lead, coach and allocate work across the admissions counselling team.
- Maintain consistent standards for counselling, parent communication, programme knowledge and follow-up.
- Review team performance and address gaps through coaching and practical training.
Pipeline, CRM and Enrolment Performance
- Own the admissions pipeline, enquiry response standards, follow-up cadence and conversion performance.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure genuine enquiries receive timely attention across WhatsApp, Facebook and other channels.
- Provide reliable enrolment forecasts and regular pipeline reports to senior leadership.
Partnerships, Events and Market Insight
- Confirm entry criteria, progression requirements and offer conditions with academic partners.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Academic, Finance and Student Services to provide a seamless student experience.
- Represent SHV at school visits, open days, parent seminars, education fairs and presentations in Lao and English.
- Monitor competitor activity, parent concerns and market demand, and recommend improvements to recruitment and programme communication.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in education, business, marketing, international relations, languages or a related field; a Master's degree is an advantage.
- At least four years of relevant experience in education counselling, admissions, student recruitment, study-abroad advising or a comparable education role.
- Experience mentoring or leading colleagues, with the ability to improve team performance and service quality.
- Strong spoken and written Lao and English.
- Practical knowledge of international pathways, foundation programmes, degree entry requirements, IELTS or equivalent English standards, and overseas application processes.
- Confident using a CRM, managing deadlines, analysing conversion data and delivering presentations.
