Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our EMEA Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional who wants to build a strong foundation in accounting through hands-on experience in an international business environment.

Accounts Payable will be a key focus of the role, with responsibility for supporting an accurate and efficient end-to-end AP process. At the same time, the Junior Accountant will gain broader accounting experience by supporting month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, bank accounting, general ledger activities, and other finance processes.

Working closely with the EMEA Finance team, colleagues across the business, and the US Finance team, this role offers the opportunity to develop practical accounting skills, gain experience with NetSuite, and gradually take on broader accounting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and timely, including coding invoices to the appropriate GL accounts, cost centers and departments.
  • Review invoices against purchase orders and resolve PO and invoice discrepancies together with Procurement, Operations and other internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and process vendor payment batches in accordance with company approval procedures.
  • Act as a point of contact for vendors regarding invoices, payments, reconciliations and disputes.
  • Review AP balances and proactively investigate mismatches, outstanding items, refunds, credits and adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate vendor master data and support the vendor creation and change process in the ERP system.
  • Support the reconciliation of the AP subledger to the general ledger.
  • Help ensure invoices and payments are processed in accordance with internal controls and company policies.

Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Support the monthly and quarterly financial close process.
  • Prepare selected balance sheet reconciliations under the guidance of the Accounting Manager.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and the recording and clearing of bank transactions.
  • Support month-end accruals and other recurring journal entries.
  • Assist with the reconciliation and analysis of Goods Received / Items Received Not Billed and other AP-related balance sheet accounts.
  • Investigate accounting differences and follow up on outstanding reconciling items.
  • Support the preparation of schedules and documentation for internal and external audit requests.
  • Gain exposure to general ledger accounting and gradually take ownership of additional accounting activities as experience develops.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Work primarily in NetSuite and other finance systems to maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and simplify AP and accounting processes.
  • Support improvements in financial workflows, controls and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the EMEA and US Finance teams to develop consistent and efficient accounting processes.
  • Participate in finance projects and other accounting activities based on business needs and individual development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Approximately 0–2 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance or accounts payable. Relevant internships or working-student experience are also valued.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, the general ledger, balance sheet and income statement.
  • Interest in developing a career in accounting and willingness to learn through hands-on experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to work.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working with deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in an international environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with NetSuite or another ERP/accounting system is an advantage but not required.

Work Environment

  • On-site at our Amsterdam headquarters in an office environment

**Annual salary commensurate with experience**

The starting annual base pay for this role is between EUR 38.000 and EUR 43.000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus, long-term incentives, as well as benefits.
