  • St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Nurse Unit Manager to lead our neuroscience ward at our Fitzroy campus.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this exciting permanent, full-time position you will oversee the daily operations of the neuroscience unit and provide strong leadership in support of outstanding patient care, while driving the ongoing development of clinical practice.

As Nurse Unit Manager of St Vincent's Private Hospital 35 bed neuroscience ward, you will lead a dedicated team of highly skilled and supportive nurses and work alongside leading surgeons and medical specialists who are recognised for their advanced techniques and innovative treatments.

Responsibilities include

  • Provide clear guidance, support, and expert advice to nursing and support staff to ensure high standards of clinical care are consistently upheld.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with staff, Accredited Medical Practitioners (AMPs), patients, families, and carers.
  • Serve as a positive role model, reinforcing the unit’s vision and culture while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and apply effective team-building strategies to foster a culture of continuous improvement and enhance patient outcomes and experiences.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have the following

  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills
  • Nursing experience in an acute setting, preferably in neuroscience
  • A strong commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Current AHPRA registration as a RN
  • Membership of the Australasian Neurosciences Nurses Association preferred
  • Postgraduate qualification in neuroscience, leadership or management is desirable
  • Ability to influence and lead continuous quality of care improvements
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in the use of IT platforms such as IBA(Webpas), Power BI, UKG, and Riskman, or similar
