Compensation
The base hourly rate for this position is $33.59.
1st Shift: M-F 7:30am-4:00pm
This position is responsible for modeling JM's core values and setting the standard for safety, accountability, operational excellence, and employee engagement.
The Warehouse Lead serves as the primary operational leader for the warehouse, responsible for coordinating personnel, resources, inventory, and workflow to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role oversees material flow, inventory accuracy, shipping and receiving activities, and customer order fulfillment while maintaining high standards of quality, service, productivity, and safety. The Warehouse Lead is expected to make sound decisions, address operational and personnel issues, drive accountability, and effectively lead the operation with minimal supervision, including assuming responsibility for day-to-day operations in the absence of the Distribution Center Manager.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and material movements.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, HAZMAT, and company operating requirements.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, system transactions, and effective warehouse organization.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity and service levels.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and implement improvements to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Train, coach, and communicate expectations to warehouse personnel while promoting a safe and productive work environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain operational excellence through strong execution and accountability.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Directly supervise warehouse personnel and provide strong day-to-day leadership across all distribution center operations.
- Serve as the acting Distribution Center Manager during periods of manager absence, assuming full responsibility for operational execution, employee management, and decision-making.
- Lead pre-shift huddles and communicate daily priorities, safety expectations, operational goals, and performance objectives.
- Coach, develop, and hold employees accountable to established performance, attendance, safety, and quality standards.
- Address employee performance concerns promptly and professionally, including difficult conversations, conflict resolution, and corrective action when necessary.
- Assist in establishing and executing daily, weekly, and monthly operational objectives to ensure departmental goals are achieved.
- Partner effectively with all departments to maintain productivity, service levels, and a positive work environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to independently manage the operation with minimal oversight and maintain continuity of leadership at all times.
Requirements (Education, Skills, and Abilities)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and manage employee performance in a fast-paced operation.
- Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional email and report writing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with the ability to quickly learn new systems, including SAP.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership, and effectively manage operations with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and varying temperatures.
- Ability to work an 8- or 12-hour shift schedule, including overtime as required.
- Must be willing and able to perform hands-on warehouse duties, including operating forklifts, loading/unloading trailers, and assisting with shipping, receiving, and inventory activities as business needs require.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Current forklift certification required (or ability to obtain and maintain certification).
