About The Role

Job Summary

Are you an experienced cook who takes pride in preparing high-quality meals and being part of a strong team? Join our Culinary Services team at the Alfond Center for Health! As a Healthcare Production Cook, you’ll prepare meals for patients, visitors, staff, and other customers in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare environment. You’ll work alongside our experienced culinary team to ensure meals are prepared safely, consistently, and according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, cook, and portion meals for patients, visitors, staff, and other customers while maintaining high standards for quality, taste, temperature, appearance, and consistency.
  • Follow standardized recipes, production schedules, food preparation procedures, and special dietary requirements.
  • Complete high-volume food preparation efficiently while prioritizing food safety, quality, and timely meal service.
  • Follow HACCP, food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and work environment throughout the shift.
  • Monitor food quality, temperatures, portion sizes, and product availability to help ensure meals are prepared and served appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with cooks, Food Service Assistants, supervisors, dietitians, and other Culinary Services team members to keep daily operations running smoothly.
  • Provide direction and support to Food Service Assistants and contribute to an environment where team members work together and support one another.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding food preparation, production needs, equipment, supplies, and potential concerns.
  • Help maintain appropriate food and product levels while minimizing waste and supporting department cost-management goals.
  • Respond positively to changing priorities and assist with other kitchen and food service duties as needed.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-focused workplace where everyone works together to provide excellent service to our patients and customers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous cooking experience required.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong commitment to attendance and reliability.

  • Ability to stay organized and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Ability to follow direction, standardized recipes, and established procedures.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work respectfully with a diverse team.
  • Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment and follow food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English sufficiently to follow recipes, safety procedures, production instructions, and other job-related communication.

Helpful Experience Includes

  • Healthcare or institutional food service
  • Restaurant, cafeteria, hotel, or hospitality cooking
  • High-volume meal preparation
  • Experience preparing meals in accordance with standardized recipes
  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment

Compensation Information

$18.00 - $31.50

The hourly pay range shown represents the base pay range for this position. Individual pay is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and market considerations. In addition to base pay, eligible team members may earn additional compensation through shift, weekend, holiday, on-call, and other applicable differentials.
