Role and Responsibilities

SEA is seeking a Director of Strategic PR to join our Corporate Communications team in Plano, TX. This role offers a unique opportunity to help drive Samsung’s corporate brand communications strategies and shape public narratives at the intersection of technology, innovation and community impact. The ideal candidate will be a strategic communicator with strong media savvy, sound instinct for connecting dots to uncover stories that resonate with external audiences, and have experience navigating matrixed organizations to develop breakthrough communications campaigns that generate positive, high-profile media coverage for the brand. Proven ability to identify, develop and drive competitive thought leadership narratives is required.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic PR, this role will lead initiatives that strengthen Samsung’s reputation among key top tier and mainstream media, new media and other strategic outlets. This role requires the ability to engage with global stakeholders and leaders across multiple business groups on PR initiatives. This position will also include media relations responsibilities with critical top tier mainstream media.

  • Create and execute communications strategy that enhances the corporate brand image
  • Engage media with proactive storytelling
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business on executive communications and thought leadership
  • Experience leveraging Paid, Earned and Owned strategies in a Comms environment, with proven success in framing impactful communications campaigns that support varying organizational needs and reach target audiences
  • Drive a regular cadence of thought leadership for Samsung Electronics America, and maintain steady editorial calendar
  • Support external C-Suite executive communications, inclusive of media interviews, speaking opportunities, & owned content
  • Craft sound end-to-end strategic approach and timelines based on a deep understanding of media relations and competitive landscapes.
  • Deep expertise in the art of media relations, with the ability to engage and maintain relationships with top-tier media contacts
  • Assume the role of “brand storyteller” – strong narrative writing skills a must
  • Experience with measurement data analysis & KPI reporting to C-suite audience
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, organization and presentation skills; analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Collaborative nature and desire to engage thoughtfully with a world-class PR organization across teams, regions, and globally
  • Of two minds: Strategic thinker who understands the business & communications challenges and can develop smart, data-driven strategies

Skills and Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 15+ years of PR experience
  • Experience in building and executing media relations strategy that reaches Top Tier business and mainstream, & technology media plus New Media like Substack and “news-fluencers”
  • AI-fluency
  • Experience with influencing at all levels of the organization and extreme flexibility to be proactive & solutions-oriented in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; comfort and experience with being a leader on a team comprised of peers, direct reports & agency partners
  • Thinks and speaks in numbers when it comes to articulating success and lessons learned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Corporate Communications experience preferred; Supporting B2B and B2C technology companies a plus
  • MBA or graduate degree a plus
  • Experience in house and agency preferred
