The role
ALS Geochemistry in Orange a reliable and detail-oriented Work Order Write Up Assistant to support the operations of a fast-paced minerals preparation and analytical laboratory.
The primary responsibility of this part-time role is to accurately enter work order information into the company’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The successful applicant may also be required to perform additional duties, as directed and within their capabilities, to support the efficient operation of the laboratory.
We are seeking someone who is available to work the following day shift roster
- Tuesday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
- Wednesday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
- Thursday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
Your responsibilities will include
- Filing, archiving and updating all records as required.
- Screening phone calls and escalating them to appropriate personnel.
- Creating Client Profile Templates (CPTs), work orders, and client codes for Technical Clerical Officers.
- Inputting analytical methods and relevant information into GEMS.
- Assigning method codes and correcting invoices and credits.
- Ensuring pricing is correct for active and new work orders.
- Liaising with management to obtain turnaround times and ETA’s.
- Other duties as directed by the Section Supervisor/Manager.

- Hands-on training will be provided in various areas of the laboratory and preparation sections to gain an understanding of the operations of the facilities.
- The essentials
- Good alphanumeric skills
- Strong language skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients
- Computer literacy and experience using Excel, Word, and OneNote
- Strong attention to detail, with a proven ability to collect, interpret, and manage data efficiently and accurately
- Experience working in a laboratory environment would be advantageous and is highly regarded, but is not essential
- Qualifications in Geology, Chemistry, Earth Science, or a related discipline would be desirable, but are not essential
- A professional presentation and friendly, team-oriented manner
- The ability to meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a team
- An open and positive attitude towards receiving feedback, with a willingness to learn from mistakes and continuously improve
