Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Officer

ALS provides a broad range of testing and analytical services to a wide variety of end markets and industries around the global. We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable staff filling the following position in Vientiane office.

Job Summary

An OHSE Officer protects workers and property by creating, implementing, and monitoring safety policies at job sites or facilities. They inspect work areas, stop unsafe acts immediately, run safety training like toolbox talks, and investigate workplace accidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving and developing a strong HSE, sustainability, and compliance culture
  • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements, internal policies, and global standards
  • Implementing and monitoring HSE programs, processes, and ways of working across sites and the region
  • Conduct HSE inspections, observations, and compliance checks at the main site and remote sample preparation laboratories.
  • Supporting the business in interactions with authorities and relevant authorities
  • Be mobile and willing to travel to remote locations to provide HSE support and follow up on HSE requirements.
  • Support QC preparation laboratory audits together with the HSE/QC team when required.
  • Support HSE training, awareness, incident follow-up, and other HSE activities as required.
  • Support daily HSE administration and corporate reporting activities.
  • Support the HSE Manager with routine reporting and follow-up, allowing the HSE Manager to focus on corporate-level reporting and key HSE matters.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiative.

Qualifications

  • Has a degree or certification in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment or similar.
  • Experience 1-2 years in safety work. relevant experience in health and safety management, with direct experience in the laboratory or mining industry being advantageous.
  • Structured and able to plan and drive your work independently.
  • A strong communicator who collaborates effectively across functions and levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Analytical and solution-oriented
  • Responsible, detail-oriented, and professional in your approach
  • Full proficiency in English and excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with different teams and locations.
  • Willing to travel to remote work locations.
