About the Role

This role will sit in the wider Technology Solutions organisation within Virgin Media Ireland. This role will involve managing technical components, working closely with different technical teams and business stakeholders. This is a Lead role who will oversee technical product roadmaps, and support solutions management, technology architecture, technology delivery, and operations in the full component’s lifecycle, part of IT programmes within Virgin Media Ireland. There will be a strong focus on driving the ownership and enablement of AI-driven applications across our systems, and a key emphasis on building and maintaining good quality technical components, ensuring that 3rd party development and support teams adhere to the KPIs defined.

Specific Duties & Tasks

  • Manages Technical Product roadmaps of components supporting service inventory which includes but is not limited to the following list:
  • (ESRI) ArcGIS – Geographical Information System
  • (Ciena) BluePlanet Inventory (BPI)
  • Service Now CMDB
  • FCAPS Fiber Monitoring application stack
  • Ensures maximum value of technical components is delivered from VMIE business drivers, and at the same time drives continuous improvements and innovation initiatives on the same components.
  • Owns the technical development, and software integration of AI-driven applications and features across the wider OSS stack.
  • Owns Tier-3/Tier-4 support of technical components, serving as escalation point when required.
  • Supports Solution Management, and Technology Architecture in solution requirement analysis (HLA, CRs)
  • Participates in epic / feature refinements led by POBAs that impact technical products / components
  • Manages PI resource allocations, as per Technology Delivery business-demand
  • Engages in Technology Delivery planning and execution meetings (e.g. PI feature presentation, SoS)
  • Assists Technology Delivery in component releases go-live planning and operational readiness
  • Ensures that 3rd party teams (development, support) have all they require (e.g. applications knowledge) and plays an active role in partners KPI management

Skills & Expertise

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field
  • CSS/BSS/OSS experience in telecommunications companies, and knowledge of Business, Application and Technology Architectures.
  • Technical IT background (Software, Hardware, Networks), with exposure to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Preferred experience in technical lead roles, e.g. IT technical project management, IT development, ideally with exposure to different delivery models: waterfall, agile, devops.
  • Strong analysis skills and technical experience, preferably in software delivery and integration within digital transformation programmes.
  • Experience in building, communicating, and managing technical roadmaps and schedules.
  • Mandatory previous experience of ESRI ArcGIS application.
  • Familiarity with AI applications development and frameworks, with a focus on driving the transition to IT/OSS AI driven applications.
  • Generic knowledge of Service, Network Inventory, and Monitoring applications, and associated processes desirable.
