About The Role

As a Material Handling Dock & Shipping Logistics (Union Position) team member here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials and shipments at our Plymouth, MN facility.

You will report directly to our Sr Facilities Management Supervisor, and you’ll work out of our Plymouth, MN facility on a Day Shift schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, On-site work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the efficiency and accuracy of our shipping and receiving processes by loading and unloading incoming and outgoing raw stock from motor trucks, storing incoming raw stock, filling orders for raw stock, charging batteries for electric power equipment, assisting and instructing stock helpers, and taking inventory as requested.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Loads and unloads crates, barrels, bundles, and boxes of raw materials such as bakelite powder, die castings, sheet stock and rod stock from motor trucks using wire slings to bind materials while hoisting and moving with power operated material handling equipment.
  • Stores incoming raw materials; checks material identification ticket which has been attached to a load of raw material by receiving inspector; transports materials from inspection area to storage area with power equipment; and stores in designated area using fork trucks to double-deck containers and bundles of materials.
  • Fills orders for raw stock: reads order for weight; quantity, specification number and order number of material; draws materials from storage area indicated on order; and spots materials in outgoing area.
  • Charges battery on power equipment: checks condition of battery with hydrometer or is notified by Group Leader that battery needs charging; moves power equipment to charger location; and attaches terminals of battery charger to posts of storage battery.
  • Assists and instructs others in loading and unloading trucks, storing incoming materials, receiving incoming materials, filling orders, and maintaining battery of power equipment.
  • Inventories stock upon request: receives request from Group Leader for amount of available stock on the floor; receives location of materials requested from Factory Clerk, counts materials by physical count, weight count, or by estimate; and notifies office of results.
  • Perform other dock related responsibilities including line service and in-shipping when needed.
  • May be asked to push/pull 55-gallon barrels with specially designed moving carts.

  • Embrace and engage in the Honeywell Aerospace Operating System (HOS) including activities, but not limited to Safety & Behavioral Observation Process (BOP), 5S, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen), Tiered Accountability Process, Standard Work, Rapid Problem Solving (RPS), Built In Quality (BIQ), Coaching, Total productive Maintenance (TPM) and Knowledge Sharing.

The annual base salary for this position is $32.47 per hour in Plymouth, MN. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS, AND WORKING CONDITIONS

YOU MUST HAVE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Forklift license or previous holding of a forklift license.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation, warehousing, and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using logistics management software and tools.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently handles stock and operates power equipment
  • May require prolonged hours of standing/walking.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Somewhat disagreeable. Exposed to outside weather conditions while working on dock.
