The Energy Management Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Energy Management Team by managing risk, optimizing performance, and providing robust governance for high-value energy sourcing across East Asia Pacific.
Reporting to the Energy Management Director and partnering closely with Front Office, local Finance, and the End-to-End Optimization Team in Kuala Lumpur, this role bridges data analytics, financial control, and digital tool implementation.
Key responsibilities include managing energy index balances, conducting invoice checks, tracking hedging transactions, and accurately computing energy costs to maximize operational value.
Additionally, the engineer oversees consolidated emissions reporting and governance to support the organization's Energy Transition goals.
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
1- Performance & Risk Management: Monitor energy risk and performance through standardized end-to-end index balances, energy contribution analysis, and identification of misalignment risks to recommend mitigation hedging strategies.
2- Middle & Back-Office Operations: Execute core administrative tasks including invoice checks, index administration, and tracking the settlement and P&L impact of Group/local finance hedging transactions.
3- Financial & Cost Accounting: Compute accurate energy costs and partner with local Finance teams for monthly reporting, target forecasting, and periodic reforecasting across assigned EAP value chains.
4- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Analytics: Serve as a key data enabler for the Kuala Lumpur End-to-End Optimization Team, using data analytics to capture value from operational changes and market arbitration.
5- Digitalization & Sustainability: Drive the consolidation and adoption of digital tools within Energy Management, while managing consolidated emissions reporting and governance to support Energy Transition initiatives.
Are you a MATCH?
- Bachelor degree in Engineering/Business or related technical analytical
- 5+ years experience in energy market or ASU/HYCO operational experience / LI business experience (contract, business model...)
- Demonstration of determination and perseverance to challenges
- Keen interest to invent and optimize complex sourcing schemes and
- Analytical skillsets and to design visualization tools to derive insights from complex data
- Project leadership to lead digital projects from idea generation to realization
- Keen to learn from the market as Energy Transition provides new and innovative ideas
- Adaptability to manage and communicate with different and transverse stakeholders
