Position Summary

The Medical Underwriting Relationship Manager is responsible for supporting the underwriting of complex Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Disability, and Life products across U.S. distribution channels. This role partners closely with Group Underwriting, Operations, Sales, Claims, and other internal business partners to support Worksite, Signature Solutions, Family Security Plan and related product initiatives. The position serves as a key liaison across underwriting disciplines to promote collaboration, address procedural opportunities, and support efficient policy issuance. This role requires strong Microsoft Office skills, familiarity with 1099 sales distribution, worksite and individual insurance products and practices, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and a strong focus on accuracy, detail, and results.

Responsibilities

  • Support the underwriting of complex Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Disability, and Life cases across U.S. distribution channels within assigned authority limits.
  • Partner with Sales, Group Underwriting, Operations, Claims, and other internal business partners to support Worksite and Signature Solutions products, initiatives, and client needs.
  • Champion the Signature Solutions program with the Group Underwriting team when it is the more appropriate solution for a case or client opportunity.
  • Coordinate with internal partners on system enhancements and process changes needed to support Worksite business and related underwriting activities.
  • Provide support for DOI audit requests, including gathering information, reviewing case files, and assisting with responses and follow-up actions as needed.
  • Manage and report out on daily, weekly and monthly metrics for Medical Underwriting.
  • Work with Medical Underwriting management and Group Underwriting to improve understanding of product underwriting offers and enhancements, supporting the most efficient issuance of policies where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Operations on underwriting and business initiatives to improve efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.
  • Support Chubb Workplace Solutions (CWS) as needed, including limited underwriting investigation support related to Claims inquiries and large-case coordination.
  • Support Medical Underwriting audit functions as needed.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, detail, and turnaround time.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and support additional underwriting or worksite-related projects as assigned

Skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and effectively adapt to changes in that environment
  • Expert knowledge in medical terminology, medical conditions, pharmaceutical drugs and diagnostic testing
  • Expert knowledge of supplemental life and health coverage, underwriting guidelines and underwriting process
  • Proven experience in building productive relationships with sales partners
  • Demonstrates advanced leadership capability

Education and Experience

  • Four to five years of experience in underwriting Individual Life and/or Health products
  • Expert in medical terminology, medical conditions, pharmaceutical drugs and diagnostic testing
  • Experience in both individual and group underwriting
  • BA/BS degree preferred

The pay range for the role is $82,000 to $118,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
