About The Role

The Risk and Compliance Specialist is responsible for providing subject matter expertise to strengthen risk management and compliance practices across the Retail Operations Hub. The role designs, monitors, and enhances risk and compliance frameworks, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal standards while identifying and mitigating operational risks. This position partners closely with stakeholders and vendors to deliver actionable insights, support decision‑making, and continuously improve risk controls and compliance outcomes.

  • Serve as the Risk and Compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Retail Operations Hub.
  • Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational, financial and compliance risks across the business.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk management procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, company standards, and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Conduct investigations into identified risk incidents and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Monitor risk indicators and trends, providing proactive recommendations to minimise exposure.
  • Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards and management packs to stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Partner with operational teams to embed risk awareness and accountability into daily business processes.
  • Support internal and external audit activities and ensure timely resolution of findings.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen controls, governance, and operational efficiencies.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers relating to risk and compliance matters.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and support to business teams on risk management and compliance best practices.

Qulaification and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years' retail experience in a multi-site retail environment

(stores and field experience)

  • Proven experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Governance,

Internal Controls, Audit, Loss Prevention, Store Operations, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of retail operational processes, including cash

management, stock controls, investigations, and compliance monitoring.

  • Demonstrated experience analysing data, identifying trends, and developing

risk mitigation strategies.

  • Experience working with risk reporting, dashboards, and compliance

management tools.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and

relationship management skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capability.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A Diploma in Retail Management, Business Management or a related

field would be advantageous but is not a mandatory requirement.

  • Experience within a large retail organisation would be highly beneficial.
