A Day in the Life

Cardiac Ablation Solutions offers cardiac mapping and ablation solutions to treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms. Cardiac Surgery provides critical blood management solutions. Our vision is to help patients worldwide by advancing innovation for the diagnosis and ablation of cardiac arrhythmia and blood management, enabling clinicians to perform procedures with superior outcomes.

The Field Service Engineer is the primary technical representative for Medtronic Cardiovascular (CV) customers and the sales and clinical teams. The FSE is also responsible for the technical assessment, installation, support, servicing, maintenance, and de-installation of all CV systems at customer sites. The FSE works closely with the Field Service and Technical Service teams to help coordinate feedback with the Marketing, Quality, Production and Engineering groups to continually evaluate the performance of products in the field. This position may also require providing technical assistance to physicians or technologists during clinical procedures.

Additional Information

  • Location: Individuals must reside within 60 minutes of either George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) or William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) to successfully support this territory.
  • Territory: This position will support a territory that encompasses Texas with the exception of the Dallas / Fort Worth area, El Paso, and Amarillo.
  • Travel: This position will require over 75% of travel including overnight travel.
  • Equipment: This position will work on Cardiac Ablation Solutions Cryo Console and Cardiac Surgery Autolog platform, Hemostasis Management System, Automated Coagulation Timer, Bio-console 560 Controller and systems introduced in the future.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform installations, inspections, verification, corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure the successful operation of CV consoles and systems.
  • Maintain and submit technical records and documentation as per regulatory requirements.
  • Provide information from experience in the field to colleagues in the office as well as updates to the database.
  • Provide input to service processes to ensure continuous improvement and evolution of the Field Service organization. This includes the development and maintenance of Service documentation and procedures.
  • Provide input to Engineering and Manufacturing for upgrades to CV products.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of technical training to our distributors, partners, agents, and technically qualified representatives of the customer base.
  • Help facilitate the smooth introduction of new products to customers by participating in design improvement discussions.
  • Investigate, analyze, and recognize trends in technical data as it relates to CV products.
  • Participate in special projects as requested by the US Field Service Manager or designee.
  • Participate in and provide technical training to physicians, EP technicians and department managers at customer sites.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy. In addition, your driving record will be reviewed and will be considered as part of your application. Must be able to drive approximately 75% of the time within assigned territory and will require overnight travel.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), or equivalent required.
  • 4+ years of technical field service, clinical field service, or clinical customer support experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Ability to apply electrical, mechanical, thermodynamic, and biomedical engineering principles to troubleshoot complex equipment issues with limited technical documentation.
  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing medical equipment.
  • Experience delivering technical training or instruction on technical subject matter.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with customers, including managing customer concerns and improving confidence and satisfaction with products and services.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and flexibility to travel frequently.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$60,000.00 - $90,000.00

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others)
