About The Role
Ryan Specialty Benefits is seeking a highly motivated and driven Business Development Intern to support our growing sales organization. This unique internship combines business development, sales support, and data analytics, providing hands-on exposure to the specialty insurance industry.
The ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, and eager to learn. Approximately half of the internship will focus on supporting the sales team through data management, market research, reporting, and process optimization using Excel and AI-powered tools. The remaining portion will focus on business development and sales activities, including lead generation, prospect research, relationship-building efforts, and supporting strategic growth initiatives.

What Your Day May Look Like
- Support the Benefits sales team through data gathering, organization, reporting, and analysis utilizing Excel and AI-enabled tools.
- Conduct market research on prospective clients, industries, and growth opportunities to support strategic business development efforts.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of prospect databases, pipeline reports, business development trackers, and sales dashboards.
- Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable business insights.
- Help prepare client-facing presentations, sales materials, reports, and business development communications.
- Participate in lead generation initiatives through prospect identification and market research.
- Support business development outreach and relationship-building activities.
- Collaborate with sales leaders and team members on strategic projects and growth initiatives.
- Assist with process improvement efforts designed to increase efficiency and effectiveness across business development operations.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas that support client engagement and organizational growth.
Education & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business , Marketing, Sales, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.
- Strong interest in sales, business development, relationship management, or analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with large datasets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a remote environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and contribute.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship, leadership, sales, customer service, or business development experience.
- Exposure to data analysis, reporting, market research, or business intelligence projects.
- Familiarity with AI-powered productivity, research, or data analytics tools.
- Interest in the insurance, employee benefits, consulting, or financial services industries.

The target hourly rate range for this position is - per hour.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
