We are looking for an Apprentice Rigger to join our Telecoms business who connects people through fixed-line and wireless telecom infrastructure, ensuring seamless communication and access to information for all. We have one of the largest specialist in-house teams for project management, acquisition, design, construction, and maintenance in the UK.

You’ll work alongside experienced riggers, gaining hands-on experience installing and maintaining telecoms equipment on towers and masts, while developing valuable technical and safety skills through ongoing training and development.

Some of your key responsibilities will include

  • Assisting experienced riggers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment on towers and masts whilst developing your knowledge.
  • Learning to safely climb towers and work at heights whilst adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Learning to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Helping with the preparation and organisation of tools and equipment for each job, performing basic equipment checks and maintenance tasks.
  • Participating in daily safety briefings and toolbox talks and contributing to maintaining a clean and safe work environment on-site and in the workshop.
  • Assisting in conducting site surveys and assessments.
  • Supporting the team in keeping accurate records of work completed
  • Assisting with the transportation of equipment and materials to and from work sites.

As an Apprentice with United Infrastructure, you’ll be given a real job from day one where you will gain hands-on industry experience, and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. In order to fully develop in your role, you will be enrolled onto the L4 Cellular Network Field Engineer apprenticeship qualification with our training partner the Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) . You will be fully supported through a variety of methods such as classroom or remotely taught sessions, learning materials, and one-to-one support from your tutor or coach. They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.

Entry Requirements

In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to

  • have GCSEs at Grade 9-4/A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • have good IT skills and able to use Microsoft Office packages
  • have good organisation, time management, attention to detail and communication skills
  • hold a full UK driving licence
  • be aged 18+ as this role requires you to work on our live project sites.

You must also be available to start full-time work by October 2026 and have

Please note, as this is an apprenticeship programme, in order to be eligible to apply you must not already have an equivalent level or higher qualification in the occupational area, or significant work experience.

Upon successful completion of your programme, you will achieve

  • Level 4 Cellular Network Field Engineer Apprenticeship.
