About The Role

Position Summary: The Product Engineer is the customer-facing technical authority for Vertiv's Data Center DC Power portfolio. Residing within Engineering and working closely with Product Management, this role bridges product strategy and execution — translating customer requirements into actionable engineering specifications while providing technical leadership across Sales, Service, and Account Management.

Each Product Engineer will own one dedicated product segment

  • 800V Sidecar Solutions (Air & Liquid Cooled)
  • 800V Power Center Solutions
  • In-Rack Power Shelves & Solutions (Air & Liquid Cooled)

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and translate customer technical requirements into clear inputs for product development teams
  • Lead the technical aspects of RFQ proposals, including concept development, schematics, block diagrams, and MCAD/ECAD files
  • Provide input to product design reviews and aid specification alignment – ensuring customer needs match engineering’s interpretation
  • Create and oversee customer-facing technical documentation (user manuals, application guides, submittal packages, technical bulletins) to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Deliver product training to internal and external customers including Sales, Service, and Manufacturing
  • Provide technical field support for installed products, acting as liaison between customers and Engineering
  • Communicate market and customer feedback to drive product development via stage-gate process
  • Collaborate with Product Management on product strategy, technical questions, and roadmap input
  • Support trade shows, customer site visits, and technical presentations
  • Maintain product configurator BOM structure and support NPDI engineering deliverables

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Mechanical Engineering (BSME), or Systems Engineering
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience (2–4 years considered for exceptional candidates)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication — able to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely
  • Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities across stakeholders
  • Proficiency generating schematics, block diagrams, and technical illustrations
  • Ability to respond to technical support and execution tasks quickly and accurately under time pressure
  • Comfortable engaging directly with customers at all levels — from field technicians to engineering leadership
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to evaluate customer applications and propose technically sound solutions
  • Knowledge codes and standards such as UL, IEC,NEC, and NFPA 855
  • Ability to understand both electrical and mechanical design elements for power infrastructure products

Preferred Qualifications

  • DC power or data center power background
  • Applications or field engineering experience
  • Visio, ECAD, or Pro/E proficiency
  • Familiarity with power conversion

25% travel required — domestic and international
