About The Role

The Regional Director is the senior business leader responsible for the growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational performance of a multi-branch MGX region. The role establishes regional strategies and leads execution to achieve company objectives.

The Regional Director owns regional results and serves as the primary link between enterprise strategy and field execution. This leader develops regional business plans, drives market growth, coaches branch leadership, allocates resources, and ensures consistent execution across equipment sales, rentals, service, parts, used equipment, and upfit operations.

The Regional Director creates a highly customer-focused culture while improving financial performance, strengthening operating discipline, and developing future leaders. The role focuses on performance improvement, sound commercial decisions, and consistent branch execution.

  • Own regional revenue, gross profit, operating income, and asset performance.
  • Develop annual operating plans and achieve budget commitments.
  • Drive profitable growth across all product and service lines.
  • Monitor branch performance and implement corrective actions.
  • Recommend investments, staffing, fleet additions, and capital requirements.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and monthly operating reviews.

  • Develop and execute regional growth strategies.
  • Strengthen relationships with key accounts and strategic customers.
  • Increase market share, customer retention, repeat business, and aftermarket penetration.

  • Maintain strong relationships across municipal, utility, infrastructure, industrial, rental, and contractor markets.

  • Lead, coach, and develop Branch Managers.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability.
  • Drive consistency while empowering local decision-making.
  • Develop succession plans and leadership pipelines.

  • Rental Fleet & Asset Management
  • Drive fleet utilization and return on invested capital.
  • Oversee regional fleet deployment, mix, and asset positioning.
  • Support fleet investment and disposition decisions.
  • Align equipment availability with customer demand.

  • Champion safety as a non-negotiable business requirement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and operating standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Improve productivity, responsiveness, and customer experience.
  • Implement standard business processes developed by central functions.

  • Pricing, Allocation & Commercial Management
  • Exercise regional pricing authority within established guardrails.
  • Balance customer opportunities with profitability objectives.
  • Participate in inventory planning, forecasting, and allocation decisions.
  • Ensure disciplined execution of regional pricing strategies.
  • Support sales, inventory, and operations planning; inventory; and equipment planning processes.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Sales Administration, Finance, Service Operations, Product Support, Rental Operations, Grove Defense, Product Management, and factory sales teams.
  • Keep field execution aligned with enterprise objectives and deliver one consistent MGX customer experience.

Job Requirements

Required Job Requirements (Education/Experience/Behavioral Competencies/Skills/Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Ten or more years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a multi-location operation and managing through branch leaders.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a profit and loss statement, including revenue, margin, operating income, working capital, and asset performance.
  • Experience in equipment dealership, construction equipment, rental, lifting equipment, transportation, industrial equipment, or a related industry.
  • Strong financial, commercial, and operational judgment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change and growth.
  • Ability to build customer relationships and support major commercial opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to reside within the assigned region and travel domestically 40–60%.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Working knowledge of fleet management, safety requirements, and business systems used in rental or equipment operations.

Preferred Job Requirements (Education/Experience/Behavioral Competencies/Skills/Abilities)

  • Experience managing a branch network.
  • Capital equipment sales and rental experience.
  • Strong understanding of service and aftermarket businesses.
  • Master of Business Administration or another relevant advanced degree.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or operational excellence training.
  • Experience with sales, inventory, and operations planning; forecasting; inventory management; and fleet planning.
  • Experience using enterprise resource planning, field service, business intelligence, or operational performance systems.
