Role Description

  • Support the end-to-end processing and settlement of physical gold transactions booked through Deutsche Bank Mumbai, including consignment sales, outright sales, gold loans and deposits.
  • The Associate is responsible for accurate execution, timely settlement, inventory integrity and effective coordination with internal teams, offshore legal entities, clients, vaults, and logistics providers.

Your key responsibilities

Trade Processing and Settlement

  • Process consignment sales, outright sales, gold loans, deposits, returns and related intercompany trades.
  • Validate counterparty, product, purity, bar specification, quantity, price or fixing terms, location, value date, currency and settlement instructions.
  • Capture transactions accurately in relevant trade, settlement, inventory and accounting systems and monitor them through confirmation, physical delivery, cash settlement, maturity and closure.
  • Manage consignment drawdowns, deferred-fixing events, loan or deposit maturities, repayments and amendments within agreed cut-offs.

Confirmations, Documentation and Static Data

  • Prepare, review and track trade confirmations, consignment or drawdown notices, loan or deposit documents, release instructions and settlement communications.
  • Maintain complete transaction records, including invoices, bar lists, transport documents, vault acknowledgements and import-related evidence.
  • Create and maintain approved counterparty, account, settlement-instruction, vault, book, location and legal-entity static data under maker-checker controls.

Physical Gold, Vault and Inventory Controls

  • Coordinate storage, vault transfers, releases, collections and deliveries with approved vault and logistics providers.
  • Verify legal entity, ownership account, consignee, bonded or domestic status and release conditions before issuing movement instructions.
  • Ensure no metal is released without authorised instructions, complete documentation and satisfaction of applicable settlement or credit conditions.

Cash Settlement, Reconciliation and Controls

  • Monitor INR, USD and other relevant cash obligations; validate payment instructions, settlement amounts, fees, interest, premiums, taxes and value dates.
  • Reconcile trades, metal balances, client positions, vault statements, cash movements and accounting entries.
  • Investigate failed or delayed settlements, inventory breaks, unconfirmed trades and documentation gaps; escalate material risks promptly.
  • Complete daily controls and maintain clear audit trails in line with policies, procedures and applicable Indian regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Sales, Trading and Business Finance on trade terms, fixing events, accounting, fees and break resolution.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Tax, Credit and Risk to process transactions within approved documentation, limits and governance.
  • Liaise with offshore Deutsche Bank entities, clients, vault operators, refiners, carriers and customs brokers to achieve smooth settlement.

Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Typically, 3–5 years’ experience in banking operations, precious metals, commodities, trade finance, treasury settlement or physical-asset custody.
  • Working knowledge of physical gold, consignment, loan or deposit lifecycles, vault processes, cash settlement, reconciliation and static data; Indian bullion-import knowledge is preferred.

Strong attention to detail, ownership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and transaction-processing systems.

Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
