Position Summary

Manages the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) function for the Easton site in accordance with ITW enterprise policies, regulatory requirements, and business needs. Implements and administers EHS programs to ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety standards and support short- and long-term business objectives. Partners with leaders and employees to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, evaluates equipment, processes, and capital projects for EHS risks, and recommends appropriate controls. Oversees regulatory reporting, environmental compliance, safety training, incident and risk-reduction activities, and interactions with external agencies. Collaborates with other site and Segment EHS leaders to support a consistent safety approach across the division.

Core Responsibilities

  • Partner with site leaders and supervisors on EHS matters, identifying priorities that support short- and long-term business goals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Develop, maintain, and administer required OSHA programs, including Powered Industrial Truck, Fall Protection, LOTO, Machine Guarding, HazCom, and other applicable programs.
  • Maintain a site safety program aligned with the ITW Enterprise Safety Strategy Framework.
  • Develop, analyze, and report leading and lagging EHS metrics.
  • Manage chemical exposure monitoring and process safety practices for hazardous chemicals in accordance with applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and partner with Operations to ensure temporary workers receive required safety training.
  • Lead safety audits, hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective-action efforts with site leadership.
  • Participate in FM insurance audits and partner with site leadership to reduce loss exposure.
  • Partner with Human Resources on workers’ compensation, incident reporting, and behavioral safety initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in safety and environmental investigations, including root cause analysis.
  • Conduct EHS training for employees and leaders and maintain accurate training records.
  • Develop and maintain the site Job Safety Analysis (JSA) program, including tracking actions to reduce or eliminate identified risks.
  • Partner with Segment EHS on capital projects to ensure EHS risks are appropriately assessed.
  • Drive a safety-first culture and support the site Safety Committee.
  • Maintain required environmental reporting and records, including SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA, and air compliance.
  • Coordinate outside medical care for injured employees and ensure additional authorized personnel are trained to provide support.
  • Apply ITW 80/20 principles to drive continuous improvement.
  • Model and reinforce ITW values, including integrity, simplicity, respect, and shared risk.
  • Travel up to 10% to provide cross-functional EHS support.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, plus five (5) years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing hazardous chemicals, including chemical exposure monitoring, labeling, grounding and bonding, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting root cause analysis using methods such as 5 Whys and Fishbone.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-Hour General Industry course and working knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and Maryland workers’ compensation requirements.
  • Experience developing and implementing EHS programs, delivering safety training, and leading risk-reduction initiatives that improve workplace safety.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, communication, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to drive change and manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based business applications.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations as needed and work in environments involving heat, cold, and controlled chemicals while following applicable EHS requirements.
