About The Role
The Ad Platform Engineering organization within Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is responsible for building, enhancing, and operating a high-performance, distributed, microservice-based digital advertising platform. This platform powers billions of real-time ad decisions daily across Disney’s video-on-demand and live TV properties, including Hulu, Disney+, ESPN, and more.
Within Ad Platform Engineering, the Experimentation Fleet provides comprehensive support to verify and achieve our research result in the real world by implementing ad platform specific experiment platforms to boost ad revenue and enhance the business and user experience.
Job Summary
As a Full-Stack Product Software Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners and engineering teams on the design and implementation of innovative products and features, contributing to the evolution of user-centric advertising at scale. You’ll exercise technical ownership, provide peer mentoring, and ensure our systems are robust, observable, and future-ready. On a daily basis you should bring:

Focus on major areas of work, typically 20% or more of role % of Time
● Design, build, and support scalable microservices and user interfaces for Disney’s Ad Platform, leveraging Java and modern front-end frameworks.
● Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering peers to deliver features that enhance user-centric advertising.
● Translate user stories into actionable engineering tasks with ownership from development through deployment.
● Mentor and support teammates through code reviews, documentation, and informal guidance (no direct reports).
● Improve system observability by implementing metrics, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
● Participate in on-call rotations as part of our commitment to operational excellence.
● Champion best practices in code quality, automated testing, and agile workflows.
● Understanding and using automated tools (AI) while adhering to company policy
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training: Minimum and Preferred. Inclusive of Licenses/Certs (include functional experience as well as behavioral attributes and/or leadership capabilities) Basic Qualifications
● 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
● Proficiency with Java and related frameworks (Spring Boot, ORMs, etc..).
● Experience with ReactJS or modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue, Angular), and willingness to learn new technologies as needed.
● Strong background in relational databases (MySQL, Postgres), including schema and query design.
● Experience working with RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
● Strong foundation in computer science principles, including data structures and algorithms.
● Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience in ad tech.
● Experience with programmatic advertising or real-time bidding platforms. Experience with
- ● Spring Boot and related Spring projects.
- ● Cloud platforms such as AWS.
- ● Modern DevOps tools such as Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- ● Data Streaming Mechanisms such as Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, and/or SNS/SQS. Required Education ● BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
