About The Role

Are you a curious and motivated law student who wants to experience how legal advice supports an international bank? Join Legal Wholesale Banking and work alongside experienced in-house lawyers on legal research, transactions, regulatory developments and knowledge initiatives with real relevance to ING Wholesale Banking.

The team

Legal Wholesale Banking is part of ING’s Global Legal Organisation. We provide tailored and sustainable legal solutions, partner with the business and help keep the bank safe and secure by mitigating potential legal and reputational risks for ING Wholesale Banking.

The department brings together specialist teams in Capital Markets & Treasury, Financial Markets, Sectors & Lending, Specialised Products, Restructuring & Litigation, and WB Regulatory. As an intern, you will become part of a collaborative and international working environment and gain insight into the interaction between Legal, the business and other stakeholders across ING.

Roles and responsibilities

You will support the team in its day-to-day legal work and contribute to a range of assignments, including

  • Conducting legal research on topics relevant to Wholesale Banking.
  • Drafting clear legal notes, summaries and presentation materials.
  • Supporting the review and preparation of contracts and transaction documentation.
  • Monitoring relevant legal and regulatory developments and sharing key findings with the team.
  • Contributing to knowledge management, internal training materials and Legal WB projects.
  • Participating in team meetings and working with legal specialists and business stakeholders.

  • You are enrolled in a university degree in Law, Notarial Law, European Law or a related legal field.
  • You are in the advanced stage of your bachelor’s degree or pursuing a master’s degree.
  • You have an interest in banking, finance, corporate law, commercial contracts or financial regulation.
  • You can analyse complex information and communicate your findings clearly and concisely.
  • You work accurately, take initiative and enjoy collaborating with others.
  • You have strong written and spoken English skills; Dutch language skills are an advantage.

During the duration of your internship at ING, it is mandatory to be enrolled at a Dutch university (or EU-university for EU passport holders).
