Benchmark is seeking a talented Assembler to assemble and erect routine precision mechanical assemblies and mechanisms having various dimensional specifications and operating relationships. Fitting of components, calibration of operating units, alignment and/or balancing of completed assemblies require the application of routine mechanical principles and an increasing knowledge of assembly techniques all in accordance with specifications and quality standards. The position reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is located in our Statham, GA facility.

  • Perform most mechanical, pneumatic, and some electrical assembly operations.
  • Must be able to fit, align and adjust all components on a machine for testing with limited Supervision.
  • Assist in the test and final adjustments of machines.
  • May be required to assist in the on-site installation of machines.
  • Follow and adhere to all Quality and Assembly standards.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret engineering prints/specifications and/or manufacturing manuals, and/or verbal/written instructions to determine necessary assembly of machine and sub-assemblies.
  • Assemble standardized mechanical units where extreme care, skilled workmanship, and accuracy are required to meet strict inspection, testing and operating specifications, including precision sub-assembly parts.
  • Position, erect, align, level; position sub-assemblies, units, and separates components and integrate their operations; perform fitting, aligning, timing, calibrating, and other operations incidental to the mechanical assembly of the machine.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Inspect parts for proper machining finish and dimensions; checks sub-assemblies and units.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring and gauging instruments e.g. scale, calipers, micrometers, etc., to inspect and verify conformance of parts to specifications/tolerances.
  • May transport specified parts from various plant locations manually or by using various mechanical lifting aids e.g. forklift trucks, etc.
  • Strictly follow all safety requirements for hand and power tool operation, the assembly of parts, and housekeeping.
  • Strictly follow all electrical safety requirements and safety requirements for ladder usage, hand and power tool operation, forklift and hoist operation, and housekeeping.

Who we’re looking for?

  • High School or equivalent.
  • 0-1-year experience as an assembler.
  • Good mental and visual abilities, with good dexterity and high attention to detail.
  • Basic use of hand tools; socket set, wrenches, open end and box end, screw drivers-regular and Phillips and pliers – regular and channel lock.
  • Good knowledge of precision measuring procedures.
  • Good math skills which includes knowledge of fraction principles.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to successfully handle a multi-tasked role.
  • Regular attendance and daily punctuality are necessary for performing the job.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Any other task requested by supervisor.
  • Able to travel 30% of the time and work overtime as required.
