About The Role

Shape the Future of Manufacturing as a Production Technician!

Valmet is looking for a Production Technician who can translates customer specifications into production-ready manufacturing packages. Drafts 2D/3D detail engineering drawings (CAD) and generates multi-axis CNC programs (CAM/G-code) for precision component manufacturing. Ensures optimal cycle times, strict GD&T compliance, and shop-floor technical support.

Other responsibilities include

  • CAD Drafting & Design: Create complete 2D/3D detail/working engineering drawings (part drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing prints) in CAD according to ISO/ASME standards.
  • CAM Programming & Simulation: Generate, verify, and simulate multi-axis (3/4/5-axis) CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM, Siemens NX).
  • Tooling & Fixture Engineering: Select optimal cutting tools, speeds/feeds, and design custom workholding/fixtures for production runs.
  • Prove-Out & Support: Lead first-article prove-outs on the shop floor; troubleshoot machine code, tool wear, and dimensional deviations.
  • Documentation & Control: Produce standard setup sheets, tool lists, and work instructions; maintain revision/version control for both CAD drawings and CAM files.

To succeed in this role, you will need

  • Experience: 3–5+ years in CNC programming (milling/turning) and technical mechanical drafting.
  • CAD/CAM Proficiency: Advanced skills in CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) for 2D/3D drawing creation + CAM software (Mastercam, SolidCAM, NX, etc.).
  • Technical Standards: Deep knowledge of technical drawing standards, GD&T (ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101), cutting tool geometry, and metrology.
  • Machine Controls: Strong understanding of Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or Haas controls.
  • Methodologies: Practical application of Lean principles (Standard Work, SMED, 5S).
