Position Title: Mechanical Lead

Location: Pottstown, PA – 75% Travel

Position Type: Full Time, Hourly

Position Summary

The Mechanical Lead supports the Mechanical Foreman by providing hands-on leadership in welding, pipefitting, rigging, equipment installation, and mechanical construction activities. This role is responsible for ensuring quality workmanship, mentoring team members, supporting project execution, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The ideal candidate is a skilled tradesperson who leads by example and brings strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, mechanical systems, and field installation practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core).
  • Inspect welds for quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Train and support junior welders and apprentices.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper usage.
  • Perform and oversee pipefitting activities, including layout, fit-up, assembly, and installation of process piping systems.
  • Perform grinding, cutting, fitting, and fabrication of metal components as required.
  • Safely perform rigging and material handling activities using hoists, chain falls, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
  • Assist with the installation, alignment, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Assist the Foreman with workflow coordination and troubleshooting.
  • Promote a safe and organized work environment.
  • Relay project progress, manpower needs, material shortages, and field concerns to the Mechanical Foreman.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, work ethic, and adherence to company policies.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of welding experience.
  • Proficiency in multiple welding processes and materials.
  • Ability to read welding symbols and fabrication drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety.
  • Experience with pipe installation, equipment setting, mechanical assembly, and field fabrication.
  • Knowledge of rigging practiced and safe material handling procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, water/wastewater, food and beverage, or process piping environments preferred.
