Job Summary

The Chief Retail Banking Officer (CRBO) is responsible for leading the retail banking division, driving growth in deposits, consumer lending, and customer acquisition while delivering exceptional customer experience.

This role oversees branch banking, digital channels, and retail product development, ensuring profitability, market expansion, and alignment with regulatory and risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Retail Banking Strategy & Growth
  • Develop and execute retail banking strategy aligned with overall business goals
  • Drive growth in deposits, loans, and customer base
  • Identify new market opportunities and product innovations
  • Achieve revenue and profitability targets
  1. Branch & Channel Management
  • Oversee branch network performance and expansion
  • Ensure operational excellence across all retail channels
  • Manage omnichannel delivery (branches, digital, call centers)
  • Improve service quality and efficiency
  1. Retail Products & Portfolio Management
  • Manage retail products (savings, current accounts, personal loans, mortgages, cards)
  • Optimize product mix and pricing strategies
  • Monitor portfolio quality and growth
  • Enhance cross-selling and up-selling strategies
  1. Customer Experience & Engagement
  • Drive customer-centric strategies and service excellence
  • Improve customer acquisition, retention, and satisfaction
  • Enhance digital banking experience and accessibility
  • Address customer complaints and service gaps
  1. Credit & Risk Coordination
  • Ensure sound retail credit underwriting and risk management
  • Monitor portfolio quality (NPL/NPA levels)
  • Collaborate with risk and compliance teams
  • Maintain balance between growth and risk appetite
  1. Digital Banking & Innovation
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives in retail banking
  • Promote mobile banking, internet banking, and digital onboarding
  • Collaborate with fintech partners
  • Improve operational efficiency through automation
  1. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure compliance with central bank regulations and internal policies
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting
  • Maintain strong governance and ethical practices
  • Align operations with compliance and risk frameworks
  1. Sales & Distribution Leadership
  • Drive sales performance across retail segments
  • Develop and execute sales strategies and campaigns
  • Strengthen distribution channels and partnerships
  • Monitor sales KPIs and productivity
  1. Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead retail banking teams, including branch managers and sales teams
  • Build high-performance culture
  • Develop talent and succession planning
  • Foster collaboration and accountability

Key Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
  • MBA or professional banking qualifications preferred

Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in retail banking or financial services
  • Proven leadership in senior retail banking roles (e.g., Head of Retail Banking, Regional Head, Branch Network Head)
  • Strong experience in retail products, sales, and customer management
