Summary
Supports new product development and maintenance of existing products under the guidance of more experienced team members. This role assists with customer-driven technical work, sample preparation, trials, and documentation while learning established processes, standards, and ways of working.
Roles and responsibilities
- Support the delivery of assigned briefs and tasks accurately and on time, with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Assist with customer requests by preparing samples, prototypes, and supporting information.
- Follow established development processes to support technical solutions for business projects.
- Prepare and organise samples and prototypes for internal review and customer testing.
- Work with internal teams to support product commercialisation activities.
- Participate in production trials, providing support under supervision where required.
- Follow safety, regulatory, and quality procedures, escalating questions or issues when needed.
- Solves routine problems by following established procedures and seeking support for more complex issues.
- Operational support impact, focused on completing defined tasks that contribute to specific projects and customer requirements.
Qualification
The successful candidate will undertake a development pathway leading to either the Level 3 Food Industry Technologist qualification and subsequent progression to the Level 6 Food Industry Technical Professional (BSc (Hons)) degree apprenticeship, or direct entry to the Level 6 programme, subject to prior qualifications and eligibility. Applicants must be 18 years of age or over to meet the programme entry requirements.
Compensation
The salary for the successful candidate will be paid at the applicable National Minimum Wage rate for their age, in line with current UK Government guidance.
