Robotics Hardware Engineer - III

Botsync · Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

About The Role

  • Asia’s leading robotics solutions provider, automating enterprise supply chains since 2017. We build syncOS — the
  • industry-first no-code platform that lets manufacturers and warehouse operators integrate, reprogram, and scale
  • automation systems without halting production or calling in specialists. Our autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) run
  • 24/7 for global brands — transforming production lines in hours, not weeks.
  • As Botsync scales its AMR fleet across more demanding industrial environments, this L3 role owns the power systems and
  • actuation architecture that keep every robot running reliably — from motor drive electronics to battery and power
  • distribution design.

The key responsibilities include

Power and actuation system design

  • Design, develop, and validate power distribution, motor drive, and actuation systems for Botsync’s AMR platforms during customer-specific adoption projects
  • Own architecture decisions for power systems and actuation subsystems (motor drivers, power distribution, battery/BMS interfaces) across Botsync AMR products
  • Design and validate power electronics PCBs (motor drivers, power distribution boards, battery interface boards) integrated into AMRs deployed across various industrial environments
  • Analyze and author PCB schematics for power and actuation subsystems, ensuring electrical design aligns with system-level requirements

Validation, testing and production support

  • Diagnose and resolve issues at both the power electronics and firmware levels during lab validation, pilot runs, and field deployments
  • Design and implement test tools and validation strategies to streamline manufacturing and ensure hardware quality
  • Investigate and close issues arising during AMR production, with a focus on repeatability and long-term reliability
  • Document power and actuation system designs using flowcharts, state diagrams, logic breakdowns, and structured test results

Technical leadership

  • Set technical direction for power systems and actuation architecture across current and future AMR platforms
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior hardware engineers on power electronics and actuation design
  • Own component selection, vendor evaluation, and design-for-manufacturing decisions for power and actuation subsystems

Essential

  • 5 - 8 years of experience in robotics, mechatronics, or related fields
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable discipline
  • Deep expertise in motor control (DC motors, brushless/BLDC motors, servo systems) — driver circuit design, current sensing, and closed-loop control at the hardware level
  • Power electronics design experience: DC-DC converters, motor drivers, battery management systems (BMS), power distribution architecture, and protection circuits (overcurrent, overvoltage, thermal)
  • Embedded C/C++ experience for implementing motor control and power management firmware on microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M, STM32, or similar)
  • Comfortable authoring and reading PCB schematics for power electronics, including layout considerations for thermal management and high-current traces
  • Skilled at using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, clamp meters, and multimeters
  • Prior experience owning a power or actuation subsystem end-to-end, from concept through production, at a senior level

Highly desirable

  • Hands-on knowledge of CANBus, Modbus RTU/TCP, RS485/RS232, and other industrial communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet) for actuator and system communication
  • Working knowledge of ROS 1 or ROS 2
  • Exposure to robotics safety standards (ISO 13849, ISO 3691)
  • Experience with version control systems like Git
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP and UDP networking concepts
  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive health benefits package
  • Hustle of a young startup, always something to do and something to improve
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth into management roles
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment
