We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Director, Real Estate to join our Real Estate team in Langley, BC.

Reporting to the Vice President, Real Estate, the Director, Real Estate is responsible for leading the execution of Pattison Food Group’s real estate strategy and supporting the continued growth, optimization and long-term performance of the business.

You will oversee new site opportunities, lease negotiations and renewals, land and property acquisitions, and manage key landlord and developer relationships. The role works closely with senior leaders across Pattison Food Group and its banners to evaluate opportunities, navigate complex real estate decisions and ensure the company’s portfolio supports both current operations and future growth.

You will be responsible for

  • Identifying and evaluating new developments, land and/or property acquisition opportunities that support the organization’s long-term business objectives.
  • Leading the negotiation of complex lease agreements, renewals, amendments, letters of intent, offers and other commercial real estate documentation with the goal of achieving successful outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with landlords, developers, brokers, municipalities and other external real estate partners.
  • Working closely with senior leaders and internal stakeholders to provide market intelligence, real estate expertise and recommendations related to new and existing locations.
  • Providing oversight and guidance on lease administration matters to ensure negotiated terms are accurately documented, interpreted and implemented along with providing support to PFG’s property management team.
  • Monitoring market conditions, competitor activity, development trends and changes within the Canadian retail real estate landscape.
  • Providing regular updates to senior leadership on active negotiations, development opportunities, key risks and the status of major real estate initiatives.
  • Collaborate across Pattison Food Group banners and functional teams, sharing market knowledge and contributing to broader business planning and decision-making.

You have

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of retail real estate experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, finance or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A proven track record in negotiating complex commercial leases, renewals and real estate transactions.
  • Strong understanding of site selection, development, leasing, acquisitions and real estate portfolio management.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian retail real estate market, including landlords, developers, brokers and key market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with the ability to assess the financial and strategic implications of real estate decisions.
  • Experience working with senior executives and cross-functional business leaders.
  • Retail, grocery or other multi-location consumer business experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned portfolio as required.

Compensation Details

$134,182.00 - $178,909.00 The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience and other factors.
