About The Role

This role can be based in our Milton Park office. The expectation is at least 3 days per week in the office.

Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.

We are seeking an experienced Technical ASIC Programme/Project Manager to plan, scope, manage, track, and successfully deliver ASIC development projects. The role requires strong, demonstrable project management skills and proficiency in tools such as Jira or similar platforms.

Candidates should possess a solid technical foundation, gained through experience in areas such as FPGA design, system testing, RTL design, digital verification, or software development. Ideally, you will have exposure to multiple disciplines, enabling you to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and their leads.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage a large silicon development programme from specification through to tapeout or production release.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to the whole team given your experience, credibility, strong written and verbal communication skills, professional behaviour and mutual respect.
  • Complete project setup including allocating team members, planning schedules, performing risk analysis and estimating the budget.
  • Interface with the customer to agree the scope, schedule and cost of the work including the handling of change requests.
  • Be responsible for tracking all defined tasks through regular meetings/reports from the engineering team and updating the project plan / status report.
  • Ensure that any exceptions to the original plan are reviewed and corrective actions identified to bring the project back on track or appropriate changes made to the plan.
  • Track project spend and revenues throughout the project and provide inputs into the finance department and provide ongoing profitability projections against budget.
  • Maintenance of actions during meetings and timely closure of actions, using tools where appropriate.
  • Report project status to the customer and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the project is fully aligned with the ISO9001:2015 QMS and all required review meetings and quality records are generated and stored in the appropriate location. Chair all key review meetings to ensure that the requirements of the review have been completed.
  • Release deliverables to the customer that are under the authority of the Project Manager.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven track record of successfully managing at least one multi-disciplinary project from design phase through to tape-out.
  • Strong technical background in a key area of chip design, such as system design, digital design, verification, FPGA design, software development, or SoC design.
  • Ability to identify, capture, and track technical issues and actions across a broad range of engineering topics.
  • Skilled in time management, with the ability to proactively drive multiple projects across geographically distributed teams—this is a critical success factor.
  • Experience working with FPGA and/or ASIC development, with the ability to engage in high-level technical discussions with technical leads on schedules, cost, and quality considerations.
  • Strong ownership mindset, with a proactive approach to driving project execution using well-defined metrics .
  • BSc (Hons) or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in satcoms, PNT or 5G cellular communications.
  • Proven experience working within a fast-paced, dynamic engineering environment
  • Experience managing external customers and stakeholders, with strong communication and relationship management skills.
