The Opportunity

As Director, Compensation and Global Benefits , you will have the opportunity to join WSP at an exciting moment of growth and global transformation. Our Global Total Rewards team operates under a matrix model, providing incumbents with a platform that allows them to combine country-specific accountabilities with those of a global COE. This role combines leadership for our Canadian compensation programs with an over-arching global benefits mandate. As such, you will help advance competitive, sustainable, and compliant reward programs in Canada while contributing to the setting of a stronger global benefits governance, market insight, and program recommendations center of excellence. Working closely with HR leaders, business stakeholders, regional Total Rewards teams, and external partners across Canada and globally, you will provide sound advice, data-driven insights, and practical recommendations that support talent attraction, retention, workforce effectiveness, and WSP's employee value proposition.

Your Impact

  • Lead Canadian compensation team and priorities, including market positioning, salary structures, annual compensation planning, base pay, incentive program, pay equity, pay transparency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to advise on compensation strategy and Total Rewards implications for talent attraction and retention.
  • Oversee core compensation cycles, including salary planning, bonus administration, compensation budgeting, and related governance processes.
  • Leverage data analytics, market intelligence, and benchmarking to provide actionable insights and recommendations that support talent and business decisions.
  • Contribute alongside the senior leaders to the setting of a global center of excellence intended to establishing a centralized source of benefits intelligence that captures benefit programs, plan features, eligibility provisions, governance practices, and regional market norms across WSP.
  • Assess global benefits competitiveness and develop decision-ready recommendations to support global benefits strategy, governance principles, design standards, affordability considerations, and regional alignment.
  • Lead and coach a high-performing team, fostering analytical capability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong execution across compensation and global benefits priorities.

The skills that set you apart

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, Actuarial Sciences or a related discipline; Master's degree is considered an asset.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Compensation, Benefits, or Total Rewards, including leadership responsibility, with a multi-jurisdictional organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in compensation strategy, program governance, market competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience assessing benefits competitiveness and developing strategic, decision-ready recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen, with the ability to translate market intelligence and workforce data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and navigate complex, high-impact decisions with sound judgement.
  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and change management capabilities.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required to effectively support stakeholders across Canada and contribute to global Total Rewards initiatives.

Compensation

  • BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $177,000 – $234,400
  • MB & ON: $161,500 - $222,300
  • Atlantic Provinces & QC: $159,900 – $212,300
