Trainer

Te Tūranga / About the Role

We're looking for an energetic and people-focused Trainer to join our Belfast Operations team on a fixed-term basis . In this role, you'll provide effective and efficient departmental training that supports our people to perform safely, confidently, and to the high standard required at Silver Fern Farms.

Working closely with the Employment & Training Coordinator, supervisors, recruitment team and site support functions, you'll ensure training programmes meet operational requirements, support compliance objectives, and help employees develop the skills needed to succeed.

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday 7.30am-3.30pm (fixed term position only)

Te Mahi / Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will

Leadership

• Provide leadership and professional guidance to team members.
• Coach and mentor employees to support personal and operational success.
• Work collaboratively across teams to ensure effective support throughout the business.
• Manage training workflows to ensure required outcomes are achieved to the expected quality standards.

Training of Staff

• Champion the health, safety and wellbeing of all trainees.
• Coordinate training and development activities aligned with business needs.
• Ensure training is aligned with relevant industry unit standards where practical.
• Train and assess employees in induction programmes, meat processing tasks and other site requirements.
• Maintain accurate training records and monitor employee training outcomes.
• Support new employees through onboarding and ongoing skills development.
• Monitor competency progression and support supervisor sign-off processes.
• Identify skill gaps and provide coaching and support to employees and supervisors.
• Ensure refresher training is completed within required timeframes.
• Partner with buddy trainers to support consistent learner development and progress.

Recruitment Support

• Work with the recruitment team and supervisors to coordinate new starter placement.
• Arrange PPE and locker allocation for new employees.
• Complete Our Technique inductions, conduct site and departmental walkthroughs, and introduce new employees to key personnel.

You'll bring

• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• A positive, energetic approach with keen attention to detail.
• Experience, or a sound understanding, of training practices and policies, ideally within a production or manufacturing environment.
• Commercial awareness and an organised, proactive working style.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital systems.
• The ability to achieve, or already hold, Adult Education and Training Level 4 qualifications.

• Above all, you'll be passionate about helping people succeed and supporting a culture of safety, skill development and continuous improvement.
